President's Message

The Year 2008 marks the 90th anniversary of your association, HKAA. And I am so honor that I can celebrate this occasion with you in my second term as President. Once again my thanks to all Committee Members who give up their time to provide vital support and assistance to the Association.

I am pleased that with the start of the New Year we welcomed our new CEO, Mr. Wilson Mok. With Wilson and his team now firmly in charge of executing HKAA’s plans, I expect that there will be rapid progress in the achievement of our goals.

I am also very pleased to report that the end of year financials of the association’s new breakeven, for we have been in the red for many years. In the beginning of last year, I promised our staff that if the revenue improve, they will have a pay rise, and we have achieved that.

In the year ahead, we have a few new changes and events planned. We have a new publisher for this magazine. I hope you will enjoy reading it since we have put in a lot of effort, both physically and financially to create this for your pleasure. Also you may have noticed that we have a small change of our logo. We are using a new Chinese calligraphy and our established year to reflect our new era and heritage.

At the end of the year there will be two main events to celebrate our 90th anniversary. One will be a celebration dinner and the other one is we are the hosting city for the FIM & UAM Congress. This is a first for Hong Kong.

With these and the other exciting events all lined up for 2008, I’m sure you’ll all agree that there’s a lot to look forward to in the year ahead.

Wesley Wan

President

Hong Kong Automobile Association

P.S. I wonder how many automobiles were there in Hong Kong back in 1918?
