Dear Members,
Three years ago, when I was first elected as your new president, the financial situation of our association was not healthy. We had a hefty deficit. As you know, we are not-for-profit organization and we don’t get any subsidy from the government. We are here to serve our members with a minimum subscription fee, so we have to make our earnings by recruiting more members and by providing more services and offerings, in a more efficient ways.
Thanks to our staff and General Committee members, I can proudly announce that we have now a positive balance sheet. This is a big achievement and was my pledge to the association three years ago.
I have been travelling a lot in these two months and is very exhausted. I was in Mumbai for the FIA region 2 mobility meeting, and in
Singapore for the FIGP. I visited Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Motor Sports Club on their 75th anniversary and sent my good-will to their seriously ill president. Then I went to
Paris for the FIA election and then the FIM Congress in
Geneva.
We have a new FIA president now, Messieur Jean Todt, I will give you an inside story behind the scene of this exciting election in the next issue, as I was an election team member and one of the four scrutineers.!
Wesley Wan
President
