President's Message
The
years glided past and HKAA has welcomed its 100th anniversary this
year. My close relationship with HKAA is also about 40 years long. It is a
great honour of my life to become the president of HKAA in this particularly
meaningful year. Here I would like to thank all the members and the General
Committee for your support.
I
once worked as a staff of HKAA at the beginning of 1980's. Initially the office
was situated at Marsh Road of Wanchai, but then it was decided that a new headquarters
would be built in Yaumatei. I witnessed its opening in 1981 as well as the
bustle and excitement when moving into the new headquarters. I left my post
later to run my own business. Still I have continued so far to work voluntarily
for HKAA as a member of the General Committee.
The
comings and goings in these several decades have inspired strong feelings in
me. It has been great joy to see again and again HKAA's various accomplishments
for local drivers and Hong Kong motorsports. They include the Hong Kong-Beijing
Rallies in the 80's and 90's, the 1997 Handover Charity Race at Kai Tak
Airport, countless advanced driving workshops and road safety campaigns and the
world class Formula E Championship in recent years.
Looking
forward, HKAA will certainly continue to play an important role in contributing
to the local development of motor driving, transportation, road networks and
motorsports. We have an impressive array of talent in our members, General Committee
and volunteer teams who come from various professional fields of society. They have
collaborated all the time to pour positive energy into the automotive sector of
Hong Kong society and will certainly continue to do so.
